The WH-2 system from Wharfedale is the ideal solution if you wish to benefit from the recent advances in multi-channel sound but also want to keep the core of your existing system, your front stereo speakers, just as they are. The problem is, most complete sub/sat systems are not very competent with music, whilst to add six full-range hi-fi speakers would either; take too much space; send the bank manager into shock or look dreadful -and it 's still not guaranteed to sound right. With WH-2, outstanding sound quality is possible with the simple addition of a center channel and two bi-polar rear speakers. You can even add a sub-woofer for extended bass performance without compromising the performance of your existing speakers -and you won 't need a second mortgage either!
Bipolar means that both sets of drive units respond in phase (at exactly the same time). With a pair of these mounted on a rear wall, the inner set of drive units provides a direct stereo image, whereas the other set of drive units, fires towards and bounces off the wall. This provides the ambient sound and creates a sense of space and openness around the subject.

centre channel has to have a smooth even frequency response throughout
the vocal section of the sonic spectrum - tuned slightly differently from
other speakers, the centre channel will handle most of the dialogue and
vocals, making it one of the most important speakers in any package -
ours is no exception.
So, before you sacrifice your system completely to multi-channel, ask
for an audition of WH-2 and enjoy the best of both worlds.
To take advantage of the latest audio formats such as Dolby Digital and
DTS, SACD or DVD-Audio, some shops might tell you that your only option
is to replace your beloved stereo speakers with a completely new 6-speaker
system. True, there are many systems to choose from, but most have their
drawbacks and what about the customer who does not want to replace their
stereo speakers -at last there is another option. The WH-2 system provides
a menu of individual speakers, available separately or in combination,
to complete the perfect multi-channel speaker system without replacing
the main stereo speakers. Performance is perfectly tuned to the requirements
of multi-channel sound, the bi-polar rear speakers creating both a diffuse
ambient sound and a clear, directional rear stereo image. The centre channel
is optimized for vocal frequencies and considerably widens the front sound
stage when used with music. As with all Wharfedale Loudspeakers, every
component is hand-assembled in their own production facilities, the whole
process overseen from start to finish with a comprehensive quality control
procedure. Polypropylene cones and hand-wound voice coils are used to
make the main drive units, which are then assembled in a strong and virtually
resonance free MDF enclosure. The Ferro fluid cooled tweeter produces
a neutral tone but with incredible accuracy to create the trademark Wharfedale
stereo image in which a stunning, fully three-dimensional sound is created.
