Wharfedale was established in 1932 by Gilbert Briggs who soon established a reputation as one of the most innovative loudspeaker engineers of his generation. Wharfedale is proud of its tradition of innovation and creative design and values its reputation as one of the key founders of audio high-fidelity. One such unique innovation & creative design from Wharfedale is the 'Loud Panel'.

The LoudPanel is totally different to traditional loudspeakers because instead of a wooden box with cone-type drive units it creates a full spectrum of sounds from a thin flat panel using the NXT technology. After 5 years of intensive development work Wharfedale has perfected the LoudPanel which works rather like the sound board in a piano. Striking a piano string on its own hardly produces any sound but when the string is stretched over a sound board the piano notes can be loud enough to fill a concert hall. In the LoudPanel a small transducer vibrates the panel with the music signal and then the panel acoustically amplifies the sound to normal listening levels.

The great news is that these panels can be hung onto the wall like paintings or photographs. The Wharfedale LoudPanel system is the most affordable and simplest way of getting the benefits of NXT technology in your home. These completely flat loudspeakers can have the picture of your choice stuck to the surface.

The package includes two LoudPanel picture frames, an active subwoofer with remote together with speaker cables and full instructions.
A particularly useful application is as surround speakers in a multi-channel system. The ambient nature of the sound lends itself perfectly to this application, as well as reducing the visibility of the rear speakers.

As far as NXT speakers go, these are the best value on the market and achieve the ambition of virtual invisibility!

Wharfedale has won the PLASA Award for Product Excellence for its ground breaking LoudPanel technology. This prestigious award is a major endorsement for Wharfedale because in contrast to the awards presented by magazines, the PLASA Award is presented by the Professional Light and Sound Association (London) following judging by professional sound engineers who fully understand the technology of sound systems.
